Edge was born as a manifestation of Miyu's strong albeit blurred desire for 'strength' in whatever form she could harness in order to be more independent---- in turn born out of her own appraisal of herself that she lacks said 'strength' to protect Maria, as well as convincing her mother that she's //okay// by herself; having been left to take care of herself for years. Edge's weapon, a form birthed by the figurative 'sharpness' that Miyu exudes, which may be seen as her reluctance to seek help from others in regards to deeply personal issues.

Having been raised mostly by her divorced mother, Miyu prides herself on being quite independent and reliably looks out for her own interests when faced with various situations. Easily annoyed, Miyu voices her opinions quite openly; much to her own dismay, as this has caused her to become somewhat of a social pariah in the past --- to this end she has been showing some more restraint with her words. While it may not always be easy to earn her trust, those that do will find a friend that is loyal.

Background

Born as twins to a wealthy family, both Miyu and Maria lived privileged lives as children; their Father, an heir to the Kikuchi conglomerate and their mother, a Dutch model working in Japan. For the growing twins, a significant portion of their childhood revolved around home schooling and the lessons taught by their overbearing grandmother on proper social demeanour. Their mother however, was in discord with how the twins were being educated --- believing that home schooling would only shy the twins away from learning more about 'actual people.' 

From that point onwards, the twins' mother and grandmother's relationship gradually worsened (not that they were ever friendly to begin with) which then resulted in a strained relationship between the twins' parents. Eventually their mother could not take it anymore and filed for divorce; and in the resulting aftermath, gained custody of Miyu --- separating the twins at the age of nine.

The mother then brought Miyu back with her to the Netherlands. There Miyu attended a public school with barely any knowledge of the local language; resulting in frequent verbal bullying by the other kids. In response to her new surroundings, Miyu learnt how to take care of herself from a young age; with her mother often absent due to her work. Throughout the years, Miyu managed to stay in contact with Maria, who she considered the only person she could confide in and vice versa. 

Eventually Miyu's mother remarried by the time she was fourteen. During this period, her mother was around a lot more and her stepfather was a kind man. About a year later the family was blessed with a newborn boy; but Miyu felt somewhat isolated by this arrival and felt like she didn't belong in her mother's new family. 

When the topic of which high school Miyu wanted to attend came up, she promptly asked her mother if she could go back to Japan to attend a high school there. Her mother was at first very adamant about not letting her go, hoping to make up for the loss time with her daughter as she was not around much due to her work--- but ultimately decided that it would be good for Miyu to reunite with her twin sister. 

Receiving an email from Maria confirming her enrolment at Seiko High, Miyu proceeded in following her twin sister to the same school.
